on october 10, my little white warrior got flashed. man, lots of power. after getting evoscan...a datalogging software to read the ecu, it turns out that my car has shitloads of knock in the high rpm range. so i take it back to get it retuned. now, there is less knock, but still considered high. dam! other tuners are tellin me that i should get it fixed.

other than that, the car feels great. i'm about to hit 10k in mileage and for turkey day, my car is gonna take its first journey to SD. time to change oil, diff fluid, transfercase oil, and transmission oil.

evo gets some dyno time

next week wednesday, the evo gets some dyno time. no tuning, just looking for some baseline numbers. but a little teaser fo yalls, she will no longer be natural =0. a little augmentation and some leg work is in the near future.

irene and i are down in SD in search for our wedding reception hall. it was a long day and we were hungry and decided to take a lunch break at valentine's (valen-teeeens).

irene ordered roll tacos and ordered carne asada tacos. we both shared a cup of spanish rice and a tall serving of horchata.

what you see here to the left is the carne asada tacos with mexican guac...meaning guac with no sour cream mixed in.

dam tasty.

what you see here to the right is a half eaten cup of spanish rice with hand made salsa. oh so good.

the pics are crappy cause it was shot through my cell cam. but man do i miss eating here. irene and i wanted to eat more but we were to full. didn't wanna be matakaw ya know?

i wish these pics could be like a "scratch and sniff" sticker. scratch em and smell the carne asada and spanish rice goodness.

the weather is beautiful down here and wished i had my bodyboarding gear to sponge the local waves in la jolla. tonite we watch pasacat's extravaganza show. also trying to hook up with veejay but my calls aren't going through. hopefully i'll see him at the show tonite since big sexxxy ses they are down in SD visiting.

tonite after tina's b-day party (happy 30th!), i had to get gas. so at the chevron in san mateo, for 91 piss octane...it was $3.09/gallon. i was like "oh yeh" time to get a full tank! hahah j/k. so, at 42 bucks for 13.5 gallon (14 gal capacity on the evo) i was ecstatic. i never took the evo close to that empty before. reminds of the seinfeld episode where kramer kept on drivin and daring himself to see how much longer he can drive before going empty.

a few more hours till my birthday. i'm turning 33, (oh my goosneck gracious, as kuya rudi would say) its gonna be a low-key birthday. but the party will go down on the 23rd. bayanihan is also performing that weekend, so bayanihan and an herna/randy party at a bar after the show.

this past sunday, john and laurie had the cast party at their pad. it was good to see the peeps, but not everyone showed up. the video was kool and so was the food.

for me, the best part of the party was messin around with john's Serrato Scratch Live. The system uses mp3's but connected to turntables. its pretty tight. i'm too lazy to post pictures of scratch live but you can google it to see fo yo self.

carne asada burrito...the REAL carne asada burrito

okay here it is. the CARNE asada burrito from baldo's in vacaville. its just as good as adalbertos in fairfield...but not as good down in san diego. but nonetheless, its carne asada home away from home. so this burrito = no extra stuff like rice, beans, cheese, etc. just carne asada, guacamole, and pico de gallo.

to the right as you can see, the distribution of guacamole, pico, and carne asada. the measuring tape is to show actual size of the burrito. yes folks, an authentic carne asada burrito.

evo suspended

The WORKS rear strut tower bar, a heavy duty strut bar which adds rigidity to the rear suspension when the two strut towers are connected. i can actually feel the rear of the car being planted when taking a high spirited turn. the strut bar prevents the sturt towers/rear chassis from twisting during high speed cornering and keeps the rear end planted to the ground. i love this thing!

here is a shot of the trunk space without the trunk lining. you can see how the strut bar is attached to the strut towers.

here is the trunk space with the trunk lining installed. it was a pain the cut the holes in the lining for the strut bar, but i managed to make it look uber stock.

the RS trunk bar. keeps the rear trunk area rigid and from twisting when taking a high speed turn. also aids in keeping the rear of the car planted when taking a turn.

the evo is now 5 months old and has 6200 miles on the odo. i had to change out the stock intercooler hose clamps cause the clamps were loosening up causing boost leaks. i changed the stock clamps and used t-bolt clamps. the t-bolt clamps stay tight and will never loosen up. i wish i took pictures of the evo with the bumper off, but i got lazy. but the boost leaks are no more.

heheheh let ernie drive the evo on the way home after tonite's gig. he had a kool aid smile on his face. enough said.

yeh from the back seat, since the bass was riding shotgun, the evo seemed fast. all most too fast. but ernie was havin a ball (at 110 miles an hour!) and yes, he'll be havin shitloads of tickets if he were to get an evo.

hey ern, get an evo so we can resurrect our old "team mabagal." hahah. LOL.

that's all for now. oh yeh, found 6, that's 6 stone chips on the hood. *sigh* i'm gonna bite the bullet and get the clear bra this week(600 duckets). i guess i won't be havin spendin money when likha goes to france and amsterdam.

evo gets to breathe a little easier

just added the WORKS drop in air filter. according to my "butt dyno," the evo seems to pull a little bit harder, turbo spools a little sooner, and gas mileage increased a bit. so far, i like it. i can actually feel a difference from the stock filter. the blue filter is the WORKS while the white filter is stock. what's the difference between the two? the WORKS filter is not made out of paper, but made out of fabric. has better filtration and better flow.

so far, i got my plates, logged 2600+ miles on the evo and got a few paints chips on the bumper from rocks falling off the dump trucks on the freeway. time to get the clear bra!

the evo handles well and is crazy fast...it screams "give me a ticket." many try to rev on me, but i ignore. silly bastards.

the evo needs another car wash. now that its warmin up outside, i can tan while givin the evo a bath!

also, just drove skyline to page mill road. let me tell you, page mill road is very windy but loads of fun. wish i could have driven a little faster than i wanted to, but there were other drivers on the road. oh well, gotta drive that road again soon.

the steelers dominated. i wanted the seahawks to win, but they couldn't avoid the costly mistakes. so the steelers capitalized.

STILL...i wished the chargers would have went to the superbowl. next year, oh yeh, next year. so the probowl is next week and i'm kinda excited coz some of the chargers will be playing (LT).

anyways, was an interesting football season. can't wait for next season!

my car is telling me it wants to die

after reading ernie's entry, i do feel that my car is trying to tell me sumthin. just this morning as i'm rooling to werk, i hear this weird whirring noise. i noticed that my speedo starts to read at 80, 90, 100, 110, and 120. but i'm at 3500 rpm's and that equates to 70mph. dam, that noise is the speedo cable. i have 188K+ , my tranny sounds like i have a dog box whir, and my car easily eats up oil. oh yeh, i never changed the driver's side axle...the cv boot is busted and its been clicking since the beginning of summer. hahahah so lazy to change that thing.

anyways, just like ernie, i think my car is trying to tell me sumthin: fix me or get a new car. i think i'll get that new car...still waiting to get that evo 9.

spoke to almar two days ago. he's gonna play for saturday's rondalla gig...which means it will be his very first performance for 2006. his last was apature i think?

oh man, its been 6 weeks since i last took my ass into the gym. having the flu, the spider bite and not sleeping enough surely doesn't help. have to reassess some priorities here and get back on track in getting back into cardio shape. oh yeh, have to get back my dar ling figure that i lost during the holidays...what's new right?

aight ern, gotta bet back on the wagon and be that gym rat we used to be. yes, being that slack jawed, wide eyed mofo drooling at the hot chicks in the gym. ahhh, inspiration to make you work out.

just like the title...but the start of 2006 plagued me with the flu. it also made miss the L.A. trip with Likha. lookin at the pictures...looks like they had fun. they even went to roscoes (you bastards!) so i'm almost recovered (not 100% yet). also time for me to get my ass back into the gym. we have auditions for ethnic fest and we are doing cordillera. great. gonna look flabby in a bahog.

so to start the food blog...here's what i concocted for dinner:

1) pain rustique flat bread with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar

2) chicken breast pan seared in extra virgin olive oil, unsalted buttered, and lemon. then sauteed in a bed of garlic, onions, tomatoes and spinach. salted and fresh cracked peppered to perfection.

3) dessert was an ice cream sammich.

not bad for a somewhat healthy, semi-low calorie dinner. so here's a pic of the chicken...enjoy.

i'm sitting pretty in first place in fantasy football league. sitting in first for two weeks in a row. but this week, looks like i'm going down. couple of my best players are on a bye week...dam. oh well, i'll probably drop down to third or worse 4th. hopeefully i can boost 7-2 to 8-2 with 800 accumulated points.

today, i feel like cooking tinola. mmmmm goodness. its been a while since i've cooked a pinoy dish...so gonna splurge and eat like a baboy. last week, cooked ribeye on the weber grill. the week before, cooked new york strips on the foreman grill......bad idea. never gonna cook quality steaks again on the foreman grill.

man, its been a while since i last posted. oh well, to be honest, i've been very lazy, but not lazy lurking the blogs :)

went to harris' steak house. had the kobe steak, medium rare. also had steak tartare for the first time. wine, a 1982 french wine...dam good. the tiramisu was excellent as well. cigars at 850 montgomery afterwards.

all this took place saturday nite with 2 homeboys. priceless.

ahhhh yeeeeaaahhh. today is my berfday. happy burrday to me! i remember last year...went to outback with the family....got the runs and a stomach ache from eating the caesar salad. this year....gonna hit up rib shack and espetus. other than that...just gonna enjoy the day. oh yeh, its cassie's b-day today too. pretty tight that we share the same birthdays. yesterday, it was tina's b-day and my client's too. herna's on the 19th. virgo heads runnin deep!!!

bought a cordless powerdrill from home depot yesterday. its a dewalt 14.4 volt 1/2 inch chuck power drill. i even bought titanium coated drill bits. this past saturday, i bought the airport express wireless network for irene's new powerbook. since she's out of town for the holiday, can't use the powerbook to hook up the aiport express since she took the powerbook with her. last friday, i upgraded to a new phone. its the motorola v551...pretty neat phone. i can finally take pictures now!

another useless blurb but a cute one....alina drew a picture of me with long hair and big muscles (never had them to begin with =) hahahahhahah, how cute is that! here's the drawing...kinda handsome yeh?

Nova Prata recollections cont. 9/1/05

geez, i thought i was gonna post all recollections in the last post. guess that didn't work...so back to sqaure 1 and i promise i'll end the recollections in this post! also this post was a draft i didn't finish back in aug. 25. so today is the 1st of september...have fun reading.

wednesday, all the groups had a day off from performing. so off the to hot springs...or the swimming pools heated by the natural springs. anyways, the swimming pools were heated by the natural springs, so that means no chlorine in the water. before jumping in the water, you had to go through a body inspection where this person will tell you to raise your arms to check for body sores or cuts, and that person would also inspect your hands for any sores. if you pass, then you can jump in. i actually utilized the warm waters as a rehab tool for my heel. the warm waters help with the swelling and abled me to push away the swelling. hurt like a bitch, but i was able to walk and put some pressure on my heel later on that day! there were some kool pictures taken that day, unfortunately i didn't take any, but i'm sure all ya'lls seen em already.

later on that nite, there was a performance by all of the local brazilian groups. that was pretty kool. what was also kool was anna banana's group performed too...i think. another kool thing was that the capoeira group invited a dancer from each group to come up on stage, so christian the chosen by default. he repped and did very well...sick bro! after the performance, another nations nite party and then sleep.

thursday, i had a day off so i can recover from the dumb heel injury. the performance for the evening was vinta voyage and the other muslim dances...forgettin the names at the moment. anyways, the highlight of the nite was vinta. since i had the day off, i was helping backstage with instruments and costumes changes. i was also playing cheerleader, gettin everyone juiced up to have a dope performance. so, all the dances were going well and the energy was high...until vincent fell of the bamboos--5 times. meanwhile backstage, we were watching on the monitor. the first fall, vincent got back up and we were all still rootin for the vinta peeps. then vincent fell again. by the third fall, all of us watching the monitor backstage were bummed. BUT...VINTA STILL FINISHED STRONG. THE VINTA DANCERS WERE DANCING ON THIN BAMBOOS WHICH MADE THE DANCE EVEN MORE CHALLENGING! DEPSITE THE 4 OR 5 FALLS, VINTA FINISHED STRONG. although vince was pretty much bummed out and didn't feel like chillin with us, i understood how he felt...(pleasanton - singkil). so that nite, most of were bummed but still felt we gave a good performance.

friday, it was redemption. we did cordillera and of course, last minute changes and adds by kuya rudi! salidsid for me and kirsi went really well. at times i was a little off beat, but vibin off the musicians just put me into a trance. gotta love it when the musicians vibe off of your dance while vice versa for the dancer.

during the day, some of us were walking around checking out the arts and crafts fair while others chilled at the hostel. me, angelo, and quim got some free stickers (brazilian flag). for almost the 2 weeks we were there, we couldn't find stickers. but finally we found some and got about 8 of em for the musicians that played for the trip.

friday nite was mabuhay nite and we were a hit. lot of people dug the food and the entertainment and the photo slide show gary put together. we also paid tribute to anna banana and her boyfriend and our sister *philippines* from the south africa crew. for those of you who don't know how *philippines* got her name....her mother named her after ms. philippines when she won miss universe. trip out eh?

saturday, we did muslim. again we were a hit...at least i thought so. during singkil, me and cass ended one count early. it was my fault, but cass was a little upset. i felt bad and couldn't apologize enuff for ending early. though, singkil was strong, tapping was on, and so were the musicians.

saturday, was also the day where i started feelin really sick. coughin, coughing, and more coughs. had a slight fever and the occasional cold sweat.

as for my heel, it was achy and swelled up. but i dance through the pain and continued to take the meds. those were some really good meds...i think i still have left over. uh oh...am i addicted? ahhahahahhaha.

sunday, the last day of performances, we did highlights or the best dances from our repertoire. so we did: manilena, salisid, pandanggo, singkill, errr...i forgot the others. so, we were suppose to keep it between 15-20 minutes long. somehow we were at 30? oops oh well. the crowd loved us anyways.

sunday nite, it was chaos. lots of drinking and costume exchanging. couldn't really tell what went on coz i was crashed out from being sick.

monday, most of the groups left early morning. we wanted to be up early and say goodbyes to the thailand peeps, but we all woke up late. some of us caught the south africa group leaving. they sang a couple of songs and man...it was heartfelt. had to hold back a tear or two...but it was kool.

us and the cadburrys were the last ones to leave. when it was time to say our goodbyes, i was saying my goodbyes to the kitchen staff. all of them expressed how they loved filipinas. and looking at them, some had tears in their eyes. man, had to buck up a bit and fight off the tears that were welling up in my eyes. the hugs they gave me...it was heartfelt.

so, 3 hour bus ride to porto alegre, 2 hour layover...2 hour flight to sao paolo, 2 hour layover...8.5 hour flight to miami, 2-3 hour layover to dallas...2.5 hour flight from miami to dallas with a major pain in the ass terminal change from dallas to SFO which delayed our flight to SFO. after that, it was a 3 hour flight to SFO. flight home was HELL, being sick and all.

so a 25+ hour trip to get back to SF. still worth it. call me crazy, but i wouldn't change anything. well, maybe the sick part, but it happened for a reason and it was a crazy experience. i guess we can use this experience and apply it to our next trip which is in FRANCE!

SO THERE YA HAVE IT. ALL IN A NUTSHELL. I LEFT OUT SOME RECOLLECTIONS COZ THEY WERE TO JUICY TO POST. HAHAHAH. BRASIL WAS A DOPE ASS EXPERIENCE. THANKS ALL FOR SHARING IT WITH ME. i'm out, coz i gotta throw teddy bears into the lake.
